Precautions
Patients should inform their doctor and should be cautioned against the use of this medication if they have a medical history of alcohol use or abuse , liver problems or GI problems . As a general rule , patients should inform their doctors of their complete medical history.

Expert Advice

This medicine is indicated in prophylaxis (to prevent disease) & treatment of iron deficiency anemia (not enough hemoglobin to carry oxygen in blood), promotes hematopoiesis (production of all the cellular components of blood), lack of appetite & growth.

Side Effects

This medicine is contraindicated in patients with decreased kidney function, diarrhea, various types of GI ulcers and GI inflammation, excess iron in the body, diabetes, some types of blood disorders, and hyperkalemia (high levels of potassium in the blood) dehydration among other conditions.
