Primary Uses

This medicine is indicated for use in anovulatory infertility ( a condition in which egg is not ovulated resulting in infertility) which is unresponsive to a drug called clomiphene citrate. It is used in multi follicular stimulation in superovulation for IVF/ET, GIST and ICSI. (methods in which one or more eggs are artificially made to ovulate to overcome infertility).

Side Effects

The adverse effects of this medicine are ovarian hyperstimulation (increased stimulation of the ovary to produce more eggs), multiple (more than one) or ectopic pregnancies (a pregnancy in which the egg implantation occurs in the sites other than the uterus) , injection site reactions, gynaecomastia (enlargement of breasts in males)  and acne.

Contraindications

This medicine is not recommended for use in tumors of pituitary, hypothalamus, ovary, breast, and uterus. It is also contraindicated in fibroid tumors of the uterus, primary ovarian failure ( a condition in which there is a loss of normal function of ovaries before the age of 40), ovarian cyst or enlargement not associated with PCOD (Polycystic ovarian disease) and undiagnosed vaginal bleeding.
