Pregnancy
Research suggests that this medicine should be avoided by pregnant women.
Lactation
This medicine is not recommended for women who are breastfeeding.
Driving
Driving should be avoided while taking Interferon Alfa-2b, as it can make you feel dizzy.
Liver
Patients with decompensated liver disease (chronic liver disease) should consult their doctor before using Interferon Alfa-2b .
Kidney
Patients with impaired renal (kidney) function should consult their doctor before using Interferon Alfa-2b .
Alcohol
Consumption of alcohol should be avoided while taking Interferon Alfa-2b.
Precautions
Before taking Interferon Alfa-2b give your doctor the detailed medical history including any known allergies.
Inform your doctor about any medications that you take.
Older patients should use Interferon Alfa-2b only upon doctor’s consultation as it may cause some serious side effects in them.
Immediately consult your doctor if you experience any allergic reaction.
Patients with impaired liver and kidney function should consult their doctor before taking Interferon Alfa-2b.
How To Use
It is indicated for treating various types of cancers such as hairy cell leukaemia, chronic myelogenous leukaemia, multiple myeloma, AIDS related Kaposi’s sarcoma, malignant melanoma non hodgkin lymphoma. Interferon Alfa-2b is also used for treating genital warts and severe viral infections such as chronic hepatitis B and C.
Side Effects
This medicine is known to cause sideffects which includes: Influenze (Flu) like symptoms , stomach and nervous system (brain like) effects, seizures, hyperglycemia (increased blood sugar).
Contraindications
It is not recommended in severe renal (kidney), hepatic (liver) or myeloid (white blood cells or platelets) dysfunction, seizures or nervous system impairment.
