Expert Advice Primary Uses Indications It is indicated in urinary tract infections, infections of the lower respiratory tract, skin and soft tissues, urethral and cervical gonorrhea, non-gonococcal urethritis (inflammation of the urethra), and cervicitis (inflammation of the cervix). Side Effects Gastrointestinal disturbances, skin reactions, CNS (nervous system) disturbances are some of its side effects. Hypersensitivity reactions, suicidal thoughts and behavior, peripheral neuropathy (nerve damage outside the brain), tendinitis (inflammation of tendons), and tendon rupture are also reported. Contraindications This drug is contraindicated in epilepsy (a disorder of brain with abnormal brain activity causing seizures) or lowered seizure threshold. It is also not indicated for growing adolescents and patients with a history of tendinitis (inflammation of tendons).
