Expert Advice Primary Uses Indications This medication is used in patients with infections of the respiratory tract, ENT (eyes, nose, and throat), skin, soft tissues, abdominal cavity (body cavity below diaphragm that contains the stomach, intestines, liver, and other organs), pelvis minor (lower part of the human trunk), urinary tract, and genital organs. Side Effects The side effects of this medication include diarrhea, insomnia (difficulty sleeping), drowsiness, headache, inflammation or infection of the vagina, irritation of the stomach or intestines, nausea, nervousness, cramps, decreased appetite, dry mouth, generalized weakness, itching of the genital region, pain, vaginal discharge, and vomiting. Contraindications This medication is contraindicated in patients with epilepsy (seizure), hypersensitivity to quinolones (a type of antibiotic), and children in the growth phase.
