How To Use Primary Uses Indications This medication is used as an adjunctive therapy (treatment given along with the main treatment) for different types of seizures (sudden, uncontrolled electrical disturbance in the brain which may produce changes in your behavior, movements of consciousness) and in certain types of epilepsy (a brain disorder which causes you to have seizures) in patients inadequately controlled by other medications. It is also used in migraine prophylaxis (to prevent a brain disorder which causes intense headaches). Consult your doctor for further details. Side Effects Patients using this medication may at times experience confusion, somnolence (feeling extremely sleepy or drowsy), anxiety , depression ,headache, speech and visual disturbances , finding it difficult to concentrate, mood changes , abnormal behavior , ear pain , dyspnea (difficulty in breathing ), impaired balance and co-ordination ,anemia (less red blood cells in the body),  cough , nephrolithiasis (kidney stones) and ataxia (loss of control of body movements).  This is not a comprehensive list. Contraindications This medication is contraindicated in people who already have depression, memory loss, difficulty concentrating, confusion or suicidal thoughts. It should also not be used in patients who have eye problems such as glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye) or reduced visual acuity (decrease in sharpness of vision) as well as in patients who have liver problems or kidney stones among a host of other conditions.
