Precautions
The patients with a history of alcohol abuse, hepatic (liver) impairment or disease, muscle weakness or disorders, hypothyroidism (decreased activity of thyroid gland), renal (kidney) impairment, diabetes, and elderly should use this medicine cautiously. How does this medicine work? This medicine works by reducing the production of cholesterol in the body. Lower cholesterol production leads to the decreased probability of deposition of cholesterol in the blood vessel walls. This reduces the chances of heart attack and stroke. Will I have to exercise while taking this medicine? It is recommended that you do light physical exercise while taking this medicine. This will help the medicine work effectively and have beneficial effects on your overall health. What foods should be avoided when taking this medicine? Please avoid foods high in cholesterol and fat. Please also avoid the consumption of alcohol as it increases the chances of liver damage. Preferably, avoid antacids as well. How long does this medicine take to work? This medication reaches peak levels 3 to 5 hours after oral administration. However, it may take up to one to two weeks for this medicine to work effectively. It usually takes four weeks before the maximum effects.
